About Shrunken American Bison Leather

Shrunken American Bison is a full-grain, U.S.-sourced bison leather with a waxed finish and distinctive shrunken bubble grain. The slightly glossy surface highlights the natural character and depth of the leather. Sides are on the bigger side, averaging 15-20 square feet, with a thickness of 6–7 oz (2.4–2.8 mm) and a medium temper, it combines durability with a slightly firm yet workable feel.

Chrome tanned with a medium temper, Shrunken American Bison is available in 7 rich, deep colors. Hides have lots of character, but minimal scarring or bites, delivering excellent cutting yields for large products and production runs. With a bold grain and waxy topcoat, Shrunken American Bison Leather is suitable for handbags, footwear, chaps, saddle bags, moto gear, and a variety of bespoke leather goods.

Please Note

Leather is a natural product. We strive to keep new lots within size, color, and quality tolerance, but some hides may have slight variations in size or color, or have natural imperfections such as scars or small holes.

Hide sizes may vary. Leather square footage isn’t measured as a true length-by-width area — it’s based on the hide’s surface area before finishing or shrinkage. Tanneries calculate footage from the raw hide stage and stamp the size on the flesh (back) side of the hide. We use the measurements provided by the tannery, but some variation in actual size is normal.
