About Raffia Basketweave Embossed Cowhide Leather

Raffia Basketweave Embossed Cowhide Leather combines the strength of full-grain cowhide with the distinctive woven appearance of natural raffia. Raffia is a natural fiber derived from the Raffia palm tree native to Madagascar, often woven into sun hats, summer bags, sandals, mats, and baskets.

With a detailed embossed texture, Raffia Cow features an aniline finish that preserves the leather’s rich full grain character and gives the surface a more natural appearance. With a soft temper and naked, glovey feel, this leather is flexible, supple, and easy to work.

Available in large sides averaging 15–24 square feet, Raffia Basketweave Embossed Cowhide has a 2/3 oz. thickness (1.0–1.2 mm), with an aniline finish that preserves the leather’s rich full grain character and gives the surface a more natural appearance. The soft temper and naked, glovey feel, makes Raffia cowhide ideal for handbags, duffel bags, footwear, leather goods, and accessories.

Hide sizes may vary. Leather square footage isn’t measured as a true length-by-width area — it’s based on the hide’s surface area before finishing or shrinkage. Tanneries calculate footage from the raw hide stage and stamp the size on the flesh (back) side of the hide. We use the measurements provided by the tannery, but some variation in actual size is normal.
