About Plonge Cow Leather Sides
Plonge Cow Leather is a buttery soft, supple cowhide that offers the perfect blend of elegance and exceptional durability. Chrome tanned with a corrected grain and pigmented finish, Plonge Cow offers the same smooth, refined texture as our Drum Dyed Lamb Nappa, but in a much larger size, making it ideal for designs that require expansive coverage.
Plonge Cowhide Sides have a consistent 1.5 to 2 ounce thickness (0.6-0.8 mm), with a soft temper and smooth, supple hand. Plonge Cow Sides average 25-32 square feet, with consistent thickness throughout. Despite its light weight and luxurious hand feel, Plonge Cow is extremely durable, which makes it a popular choice for garments and apparel, especially leather pants, skirts, jackets and outerwear, as well as luxury handbags and duffle bags.
We offer 27 vibrant colors that are in-stock and ready to ship.
What is Plonge Leather?
Plonge leather (or plongé leather) is a buttery soft, lightweight leather that's most often used for garments and apparel, gloves, high end leather jackets. The term plongé comes from French tanning terminology, referring to a process that emphasizes deep oil penetration, a sanded or buffed grain side, and extreme softness and pliability. The result of Plonge tanning is a leather that feels broken-in from day one, with minimal stiffness and a smooth, luxurious hand that feels amazing against the skin.
Interestingly, Plonge leather is usually made from lamb nappa, which is what makes this Plonge Cowhide so unique. Plonge cow hides are larger, stronger, and more durable than traditional Plonge lambskin, which makes Plonge Cowhide more versatile than its small-skin counterparts.
Please Note
Leather is a natural product. We strive to keep hide sizes consistent and keep new lots within color tolerance, but some hides may have slight variations in size or color, or have natural imperfections such as scars or small holes.
Hide sizes and dye lots may vary.
