Italian Garment Weight Oiled Buffed Cowhide Leather combines a smooth, semi-buffed surface with a matte finish infused with oils and waxes. The treatment gives the leather a slick, lightly oiled touch and subtle pull-up effect, creating gentle tonal variation when folded or stretched. Its soft, drapey temper and lightweight 0.8–1.0 mm (2–2.5 oz) thickness make it especially suitable for leather apparel, while the usable suede back provides an attractive unlined interior or contrasting design surface.
Chrome tanned in Italy by master artisans, this garment weight cowhide is available in Tan, Brown, and Black as either full hides averaging 40–48 square feet or half hides averaging 20–24 square feet. Its balance of supple drape, comfortable weight, and naturally worn character makes it a versatile choice for leather jackets, pants, outerwear, soft handbags, hats, boots, accessories, and other fashion projects.

Hide sizes may vary. Leather square footage isn’t measured as a true length-by-width area — it’s based on the hide’s surface area before finishing or shrinkage. Tanneries calculate footage from the raw hide stage and stamp the size on the flesh (back) side of the hide. We use the measurements provided by the tannery, but some variation in actual size is normal.
