About Distressed Drum Dyed Water Buffalo Leather
Distressed Drum Dyed Water Buffalo Leather is a durable whole-hide leather with a grainy surface, protected finish, and natural distressed crackle effect. Chrome tanned with a thickness of 1.1–1.3 mm (3 ounces), this water buffalo leather has a soft-medium temper which offers a practical balance of structure, flexibility, and surface protection. This leather is ideal for commercial and heavy-use projects that require both character and performance—think lobby and waiting room upholstery, hospitality, and corporate interiors.
Available in 5 earthy colors that are drum dyed and struck through, Distressed Drum Dyed Water Buffalo hide is well suited for chaps, motorcycle apparel, heavier leather garments, handbags, contract and hospitality grade upholstery, leather goods, and accessories. With an average whole hide size of 36–42 square feet, it provides large yields and a massive cutting surface for upholstery projects, production work, and designs that benefit from a textured, broken-in leather look.

Hide sizes may vary. Leather square footage isn’t measured as a true length-by-width area — it’s based on the hide’s surface area before finishing or shrinkage. Tanneries calculate footage from the raw hide stage and stamp the size on the flesh (back) side of the hide. We use the measurements provided by the tannery, but some variation in actual size is normal.
