About Distressed Buffed Elephant Embossed Cowhide Leather
Distressed Buffed Elephant Embossed Cowhide Leather recreates the rugged, irregular grain associated with elephant hide using embossed genuine full-grain cow leather. Its deep embossed texture is enhanced by the buffed, weathered surface and aniline finish, creating rich tonal variation and a naturally aged appearance. The soft, tumbled temper gives this 3 oz leather a flexible hand while preserving the substantial feel needed for durable leather goods.
Sold as large full hides averaging 60–70 square feet, this chrome-tanned cowhide has a 3 ounce thickness (1.1–1.3 mm), and is available in seven colors. With a generous cutting yield, distinctive elephant-grain embossing, and broken-in character, Distressed Buffed Elephant Embossed Cowhide is well suited for chaps, boots, luggage, handbags, inlays, upholstery, interiors, accessories, and other projects that call for rugged, distressed leather with an exotic appeal.

Hide sizes may vary. Leather square footage isn’t measured as a true length-by-width area — it’s based on the hide’s surface area before finishing or shrinkage. Tanneries calculate footage from the raw hide stage and stamp the size on the flesh (back) side of the hide. We use the measurements provided by the tannery, but some variation in actual size is normal.
