Curly Merino Shearling with a Suede Back is a lightweight sheepskin featuring short, tight curls and a soft, tone-on-tone suede reverse. Merino shearling combines natural wool and leather in a single hide, providing warmth and insulation without the bulk of longer-pile varieties. Each skin averages 4–7 square feet, with a trimmed pile height of approximately 6–8 mm and a soft temper that allows the material to drape and flex comfortably.
Available in Pecan and Gray, this double-faced Merino shearling can be used with either the curly wool or suede side exposed. Its compact pile and flexible construction make it well suited for apparel, gloves, mittens, cuffs, collars, trims, and other shearling accessories.

Hide sizes may vary. Leather square footage isn’t measured as a true length-by-width area — it’s based on the hide’s surface area before finishing or shrinkage. Tanneries calculate footage from the raw hide stage and stamp the size on the flesh (back) side of the hide. We use the measurements provided by the tannery, but some variation in actual size is normal.
